Course Description

This course is aimed at studying the historical development, structural characteristics, and classification principles of musical instruments. During the course, string, wind, percussion, and keyboard instruments from various cultures are examined from morphological, acoustical, and performance-related perspectives.
Within the framework of the course, the sound production mechanisms of musical instruments, their timbral characteristics, technical capabilities, and functional roles within ensemble and orchestral settings are explained. The course serves to develop students’ ability to recognize musical instruments, distinguish their sound possibilities, and apply this knowledge appropriately in performance and pedagogical activities.
