Course Description
This course is aimed at developing students’ theoretical knowledge and creative practical skills in the field of musical improvisation. Within the framework of the course, students study the fundamental principles of improvisation, mechanisms of melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic thinking, as well as the development of musical memory and spontaneous creative abilities.
During the instructional process, various forms and styles of improvisation—such as classical, jazz, folk music, and contemporary improvisational practices—are explored. The course examines modal–intonational systems, chord structures, rhythmic variations, and structural freedom within musical form. Students acquire skills in free musical expression beyond the written score, thematic variation, dialogic improvisation, and interactive musical communication within ensemble performance contexts.
