Course Type
Elective - Block 4
Course Description
This course examines the physical properties of fluids and their behavior under static and dynamic conditions. The curriculum focuses on hydrostatics, fluid flow in pipes, and open-channel hydraulics, emphasizing the principles of mass, energy, and momentum conservation. Students learn to calculate flow rates, pressure losses due to friction, and the design requirements for pumps and turbines. The course covers the analysis of water distribution networks and hydraulic structures like weirs and flumes. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of applying hydraulic theories to design efficient water supply, drainage, and irrigation systems essential for civil engineering infrastructure.
