Course Description
The History of Opera Music course is a theoretical subject focused on the historical development of the opera genre from its origins to the contemporary period. The course examines musical dramaturgy, leading compositional schools, stylistic characteristics, and the performance and aesthetic principles of opera as an art form.
Within the course framework, students study the role of opera in the synthesis of music and stage action, the evolution of vocal schools, the dramaturgical function of librettos, the place of the orchestra and choir within operatic structures, and the formation of national opera traditions from a musicological perspective.
