[DHIS342] History of Interior Design
Instruction Language
Azerbaijani
Course Description
This course provides a systematic study of the historical context of spatial design, the aesthetic concepts of interior design across different periods, intercultural influences, and the fundamental principles of styles and movements that have evolved over time. The course demonstrates that interior design is not limited to visual and functional elements but develops in close connection with historical, cultural, and sociological contexts.
By examining historical references and stylistic transformations, students are enabled to establish deeper conceptual foundations in their creative projects and to apply historical influences at a professional level. The History of Interior Design course strengthens students’ understanding of spatial culture, broadens their aesthetic perception, and equips them with the ability to justify design decisions not only through technical and functional considerations, but also through historical and cultural depth.
