Instruction Language

Course Description
This course provides a systematic study of the historical roots, cultural and social contexts, and technological transformations of graphic design. It prepares students in design education for aesthetic, conceptual, and contextual modes of thinking. The course emphasizes that graphic design is not merely a matter of visual aesthetics, but a system of cultural expression and communicative structures.
By integrating historical knowledge with design practice, students are enabled to create more purposeful visual solutions that combine conceptual depth, aesthetic grounding, and historical awareness. The primary objective of the course is to familiarize students with the key stages in the historical development of graphic design, major stylistic movements, and communicative structures, while also teaching them to analyze—on a scholarly basis—the social and cultural impact mechanisms of ideas expressed through graphic form.
This knowledge allows students to justify their design projects not only at a technical skill level but also within a broader cultural and historical context.
