Course Description
This course offers a concise overview of the historical development of the peoples of the Near East, Middle East, South Asia, and Central Asia from ancient times to the 20th century. Students explore major early civilizations, the rise of Islam and the Arab Caliphate, the formation of Turkic and Mongol empires, and key political and cultural interactions across the region. The course also examines colonialism, independence movements, and the emergence of modern nation-states.
Students gain a broad understanding of Eastern societies and their role in wider regional and global historical processes.
