Course Description

Within the framework of this course, students are expected to develop systematic scholarly knowledge about the stages of the emergence, formation, and development of Azerbaijani musical culture, as well as to enhance their ability to deeply understand the historical and cultural foundations of national musical traditions. Students should gain knowledge about the musical heritage formed in ancient and medieval periods, the scholarly legacy of prominent scholars and musicologists who were active in this field, as well as court and folk music culture.

During the teaching process, students become acquainted with the formation of Azerbaijani professional music, the history of the development of the mugham art, the genre and formal characteristics of folk music, the stages of national composer creativity, and the main directions of the development of music education and enlightenment.
