Course Description
This course examines the earliest stages of Azerbaijan’s political, social, and cultural development from prehistoric times to the early Middle Ages. Students explore the evolution of primitive communal society, the formation of early state structures, and the history of Caucasian Albania. Special attention is given to the introduction and spread of Christianity and later Islam, the rise of local dynasties, the development of urban centers, and the formation of early cultural traditions. The course aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of Azerbaijan’s ancient past and to develop skills in analyzing historical processes within their broader regional and global contexts.
