Course Description
As a continuation of "History of Asia and Africa I", this course covers the period from the early twentieth century to the beginning of the twenty-first century and examines major transformations in Asia and Africa within the changing international system. Students analyze the Paris Peace System, national liberation movements in Asia, India’s independence struggle and Turkey’s National Struggle and the establishment of the Republic, alongside Pahlavi reforms in Iran and political renewal in Africa and the Arab world, including the rise of pan Africanism. The course also examines the Cold War context, bipolar rivalry, modernization models in China and Japan, India-Pakistan relations and conflicts and political transformations in the Middle East. The final part focuses on the globalization era from 1991 to the early twenty-first century, including economic reforms in China and India, political and institutional change in Turkey, evolving political directions in Iran and development models and regional integration initiatives across Africa, strengthening students’ ability to evaluate processes chronologically and within political, economic and cultural contexts linked to global change.
