This course teaches the fundamental concepts and significance of logistics infrastructure (e.g., warehouses, terminals, transport networks) and the principles of strategic planning and design. It covers methods for site selection and facility location analysis based on geographical, economic, and demand factors. The curriculum focuses on designing the layout and internal structure of logistics facilities, including space optimization, material flow analysis, and integration of handling equipment. It examines the use of modeling and simulation tools to evaluate alternative infrastructure designs. Furthermore, it studies the role of Information Technology (IT) in infrastructure management, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and the implementation of sustainable design principles. The course develops students' abilities to analyze needs, design efficient logistics infrastructure projects, and optimize network configuration for regional and global supply chains.
