Course Description
This course offers an analytical understanding of Europe as a political space, focusing on its multi-level governance model and its role as a normative power in global politics. Students examine European political systems not only through institutions and governance mechanisms but also through values, ideologies and political decision-making cultures. The course studies European Union integration processes and the interaction between national and supranational decision-making, as well as Europe’s strategic role in international affairs. Through comparative analysis, students explore the diversity of European political systems, the historical roots of governance models and their responses to contemporary challenges, and they assess the principles shaping European diplomacy and its potential for normative leadership. The course also analyzes neighbourhood policy, security and energy strategies and Europe’s relations with international organizations, enabling students to understand Europe’s political and economic dynamics deeply and to evaluate European politics as a system of ideas, interests and power relations.
