Course Description
This course explores the principles, design, and practical applications of electromagnetic devices in engineering. The curriculum covers the fundamental laws of electromagnetism, including Ampere’s Law, Faraday’s Law of induction, and the properties of magnetic materials such as permeability and hysteresis. Students learn to calculate magnetic field intensity, flux density, and the forces exerted by electromagnets on moving charges and currents. The course focuses on the construction of solenoids, relays, and magnetic actuators, emphasizing the selection of core materials to optimize performance and energy efficiency. Through laboratory experiments, students design and test electromagnets, analyzing the relationship between coil windings, current, and lifting capacity. This knowledge is essential for developing technologies in industrial lifting, medical imaging (MRI), and high-speed transportation, providing students with critical expertise in electromechanical system design.
