Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of digital systems and the design of logic circuits. The curriculum covers binary number systems, Boolean algebra, and the minimization of logic functions using Karnaugh maps. Students explore the operation of fundamental logic gates and the design of combinational circuits such as adders, multiplexers, and decoders. The course also delves into sequential logic, focusing on flip-flops, registers, and counters, alongside the principles of Finite State Machines (FSM). Through hands-on laboratory experiments, students build and test digital circuits using integrated circuits (ICs) and learn the basics of hardware description languages (HDL) for FPGA implementation. This knowledge is essential for understanding computer architecture, microprocessors, and embedded systems, providing the core skills necessary for modern digital hardware design and automation.
