Course Description
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of designing, implementing, and managing organized data collections. The curriculum focuses on the relational model, entity-relationship (ER) modeling, and the use of Structured Query Language (SQL) for data manipulation. Students explore normalization techniques to ensure data integrity and reduce redundancy, alongside advanced topics like indexing, transaction management, and concurrency control. The course also introduces non-relational (NoSQL) databases and their role in handling big data. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of architecting robust database schemas and executing complex queries to retrieve and manage information efficiently for various enterprise applications.
