Course Description
This course focuses on the systematic methodologies for designing robust, efficient, and scalable data models. The curriculum covers the entire design lifecycle, starting from requirements gathering and conceptual modeling using Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams. Students master logical design through normalization (1NF to BCNF) to eliminate data redundancy and ensure integrity. The course also addresses physical design strategies, including indexing and partitioning, tailored for specific database engines. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of transforming complex business requirements into high-performance relational schemas that support reliable and secure data-driven applications.
