Course Description
This course explores the fundamental principles of protecting networks, systems, and data from digital attacks and unauthorized access. The curriculum focuses on the "CIA Triad" (Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability) and identifies common threats such as malware, phishing, and man-in-the-middle attacks. Students investigate network security protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and the implementation of secure authentication mechanisms. The course emphasizes vulnerability assessment, penetration testing basics, and the legal and ethical frameworks of cybersecurity. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of identifying system weaknesses, developing risk mitigation strategies, and implementing defensive measures to safeguard sensitive information, providing an essential foundation for careers in network administration, security auditing, and digital forensics.
