Course Description
This course explores the mathematical principles and algorithmic techniques used to secure information and communications. The curriculum focuses on symmetric and asymmetric encryption methods, including advanced standards such as AES and RSA. Students investigate hash functions, digital signatures, and message authentication codes to ensure data integrity and authenticity. The course emphasizes the role of number theory—specifically modular arithmetic and elliptic curves—in developing modern cryptographic protocols. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of analyzing the security of cryptographic systems, understanding the vulnerabilities of network protocols, and implementing secure communication channels, providing a critical foundation for cybersecurity, blockchain technology, and secure software development.
