Course Description
This course introduces counselling psychology as a field focused on supporting individuals in coping with emotional, behavioural and interpersonal challenges. Students study the theoretical foundations of counselling, including humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic approaches, alongside ethical principles and professional standards. The course emphasizes the development of basic counselling skills such as active listening, empathy, assessment and rapport building. Students also examine the role of the counsellor, boundaries of professional practice and the importance of cultural sensitivity. Through case discussions and applied exercises, the course builds a strong foundation for effective helping relationships.
