Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive study of the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of materials used in civil engineering and architecture. The curriculum focuses on the characteristics and testing standards of concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and composite materials. Students explore the production processes, durability factors, and environmental impacts of traditional and modern sustainable materials. The course emphasizes the selection of appropriate materials based on structural requirements, cost-effectiveness, and climate conditions. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of conducting quality control tests, analyzing material failure modes, and specifying materials that ensure the safety, longevity, and sustainability of buildings and infrastructure projects, forming a critical technical foundation for structural design and construction management.
