This course is aimed at developing students’ theoretical foundations and practical skills in the art of conducting. Within the framework of the course, students study the principles of leading orchestral, ensemble, and choral groups, conducting gesture techniques, musical score analysis, and interpretative approaches.

The instructional process focuses on the core elements of conducting, including beat patterns, tempo control, cueing, shaping dynamics and articulation, phrasing, and maintaining ensemble balance. In addition, the course addresses the conductor’s work with the score, rehearsal planning and organization, psychological communication with performers, and artistic leadership skills.

The course prepares students to function effectively as conductors by combining technical proficiency, musical insight, and organizational competence in collective music performance settings.
