Course Description
This course introduces the theoretical foundations of cartography and the practical use of maps in geographical analysis. Students study the principles of map design, scale, map projections, symbol systems, and the elements of cartographic language. The course develops skills in reading and interpreting different types of geographic maps, recording spatial information, and visually analyzing geographical phenomena. Students gain practical experience in describing, analyzing, and comparing geographical space using maps and atlases. The course also provides introductory skills in working with digital mapping tools, supporting the effective use of cartographic resources in teaching, research, and applied geographical work.
