Course Description
This foundational course introduces the fundamental concepts of differential calculus and its applications in engineering. The curriculum focuses on limits, continuity, and the derivative of algebraic and transcendental functions. Students explore the Mean Value Theorem, optimization problems, and curve sketching techniques. The course also introduces the basics of integral calculus, covering antiderivatives and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of modeling rates of change and solving complex problems involving the instantaneous behavior of physical systems, providing a vital mathematical base for all future engineering disciplines.
