Course Description
This course introduces biomimicry and bio-design as STEAM-based approaches that use nature as a source of inspiration for solving complex real-world problems. Students explore how biological systems, structures, materials, and processes inform innovation across science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. The course emphasizes systems thinking, sustainability, and interdisciplinary design through case studies, observation-based inquiry, and hands-on STEAM projects. Students analyze natural models, translate them into bio-inspired design concepts, and evaluate solutions using scientific reasoning, creative design, and basic quantitative thinking. The course supports the development of problem-solving, creativity, and environmentally responsible innovation within a STEAM framework.
