Course Description
This course addresses the nature and application of ethical principles arising in medical practice, biotechnology, and scientific research. It covers the theoretical foundations of bioethics, including the protection of human life, patients’ rights, informed consent, ethical considerations in clinical decision-making, and the socio-legal implications of contemporary biomedical innovations. The analysis of ethical dilemmas in areas such as genetic engineering, reproductive technologies, organ transplantation, and end-of-life decision-making forms a core component of the course. Students become acquainted with international bioethics standards, regulatory documents, and the work of ethics committees, and develop skills in the ethical evaluation of medical decisions. The course aims to cultivate ethical responsibility, professional conduct, and humanistic, value-based decision-making in future health professionals.
