Course Description
This course examines the chemical composition of living organisms and the molecular foundations of life processes. Students study the structure and functions of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, as well as the metabolic pathways through which these biomolecules are synthesized, transformed, and regulated. The course also explores enzyme structure and catalytic activity, energy metabolism, cell signaling mechanisms, and the biochemical basis of gene expression.
The aim of the course is to develop a deep understanding of the chemical principles underlying biological phenomena and to equip students with the ability to apply biochemical concepts in biology education and future pedagogical practice.
