Course Description
This course introduces students to the rich oral folklore traditions of Azerbaijan, exploring myths, legends, epics, tales, proverbs, riddles, and folk poetry that have shaped the nation’s cultural identity. Through the study of major genres, performance practices, and regional variations, students develop an understanding of how oral literature reflects collective memory, values, and worldviews. The course combines textual analysis with cultural interpretation, offering insights into the social, historical, and artistic significance of Azerbaijani folklore.
