Background

Arslan Novrasli was born on April 24, 1981, in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is the great-great-grandchild of the 19th-century poet Mirza Alasgar Novras.
He studied at the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School under
tar master Sarvar Ibrahimov (mugham) and Maharram Mammadov
(music notation specialization). During his studies, he performed
at state-level events and became a prize-winner of several national
competitions, including the VII Republican Competition and “Mugham-99.”
In 1999, he was admitted to the Baku Music Academy and later
continued his education at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory,
where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2003 and Master’s
degree in 2005 with distinction.
He was engaged in pedagogical activity at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory from 2004 to 2024. He worked as a soloist of the Separate Exemplary Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan from August 2021 to August 2024. He is recognized for introducing innovative approaches to the
Azerbaijani tar performance tradition, combining classical and
ethno-jazz elements. He has represented Azerbaijan at
international festivals and concerts in China, Russia, and
other countries, performing both solo and with orchestras.
Since July 15, 2024, he has been serving as Head of the
Instrumental Performance Department at the Faculty of Arts
of Karabakh University.
