Afaq Garayeva
Background
Afaq Garayeva was born in 1985 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Between 1992 and 1999,
she studied piano at Music School No. 16 named after K. Safarova, and from
1999 to 2003 she continued her professional secondary education at the
Music College (currently ADTX).
From 2003 to 2007, she completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Uzeyir
Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy (class of Nazakat Rimazi), and from 2007 to
2009 she completed her Master’s degree with distinction. During her graduate
studies, she worked as a concertmaster at the Departments of Wind and
Percussion Instruments and Choral Conducting.
Since 2009, she has been teaching at the Department of General Piano, and
since 2012 she has served as Senior Lecturer at the Department of
Accompaniment (Concertmaster Skills). In 2016, she became a laureate of an
international competition held in the Czech Republic.
Alongside her pedagogical career, she actively performs in concerts and
competitions and has received various awards. In 2022, she conducted a
masterclass at Nakhchivan State University, and in 2023 she completed
professional development training at Kazan State Conservatory.
Currently, she serves as Executive Director of the “Cadenza” Orchestra and,
since 2024, as a lecturer at the Faculty of Performance at Karabakh University.
