[INM 311] Approximate Methods in Engineering
Instruction Language
Azerbaijani
Course Type
Elective - Block 5
Course Description
This course focuses on powerful analytical and variational techniques used to obtain approximate solutions for complex engineering problems. The curriculum covers the Rayleigh-Ritz method, the weighted residual methods (such as Galerkin), and perturbation techniques. Students learn to simplify high-order differential equations and model structural vibrations, heat transfer, and fluid flow where exact solutions are unavailable. The course emphasizes the transformation of continuous physical systems into discrete mathematical models. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of applying these approximations to perform efficient structural analysis and establish the foundations for Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
