Course Description
This course provides a systematic exploration of the political, economic, social, and cultural development of the ancient world. Students are introduced to the emergence of early civilizations and states, their governance structures, religious beliefs, and scientific and cultural achievements. They analyze interactions among ancient peoples, including warfare, trade, and diplomacy, and assess how these exchanges shaped broader world civilization.
The course also examines the lasting influence of ancient cultures on the formation of modern society and the roots of universal human values. Students develop the ability to interpret historical facts through primary sources, identify cause-and-effect relationships, and form a well-grounded scholarly understanding of the ancient period.
