Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental structures of abstract algebra and the properties of integers. The curriculum focuses on set theory, logic, and the theory of divisibility, including the Euclidean algorithm and the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic. Students explore modular arithmetic, congruences, and their applications in cryptography, such as the RSA algorithm. The course also introduces group theory basics, complex numbers, and polynomial rings. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of performing rigorous mathematical proofs, solving linear congruences, and understanding the algebraic foundations that underpin modern computer science, coding theory, and secure digital communication systems.
