Leyla Babazada

Leyla Babazada is a PhD candidate in History. She holds a BA (2009-2013) and MA (2013-2015) in History from Baku State University, where she specialized in modern and contemporary European and American history and graduated with distinction.
She has an academic background in history and international relations, with research experience at the Institute of History and Ethnology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, where she worked as a researcher for several years. She also served as Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists (2021-2024). Alongside her research, she has teaching experience at Baku Business University and the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts, where she delivered courses on the History of Azerbaijan. Since September 2024, she has been affiliated with our university.

Her research focuses on Caucasian Albania, particularly its foreign relations in late antiquity. She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation on “Foreign Relations of Caucasian Albania (3rd-8th centuries)”. Her publications include “The Political Nature of Relations between Caucasian Albania and the Sasanian Empire in the 3rd Century: Alliance or Dependence?” (Social Sciences, 2022).
